Motor Car Excursions
Although now a novelty for hobbyists and public enjoyment, the motor car was once an integral piece of equipment for maintenance of way purposes. These motor cars were used on the railway for track inspections, maintenance, and to transport the train crew to and from work sites. These purposes of the motor car have since been replaced by 'hi-rails', or pick-up trucks, fit with flanged wheels that enable track driving.
The GSR has hosted the Motor Car Excursion 4 times over the last 6 years to give the public a look back in railway history.
